San Jose Sharks History

The San Jose Sharks are one of five teams in the Pacific Division of the Western Conference of the National Hockey League (NHL).. The Sharks play at the San Jose Arena in San Jose, California, and wear uniforms of teal, gray, black, and white. Their name was chosen because of San Jose’s proximity to the Pacific Ocean, which is home to several different varieties of sharks.

The Sharks joined the NHL in 1991 as an expansion team. In its first two seasons, San Jose finished last in its division and had the worst record in the league. In the 1993-94 season, however, first-year head coach Kevin Constantine orchestrated the biggest turnaround in league history. The Sharks, whose win-loss-tie record the previous year had been 11-71-2, improved to 33-35-16. They finished third in the Pacific Division and qualified for the playoffs. Wings Pat Falloon and Johan Garpenlov led the offense, and goalie Arturs Irbe and defensemen Sandis Ozolinsh and Tom Pederson anchored the defense.

In the first round of the 1994 Stanley Cup playoffs San Jose defeated the heavily favored Detroit Red Wings, 4 games to 3. The Sharks were then eliminated by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the second round, 4 games to 3.

San Jose finished with a 19-25-4 win-loss-tie record in the 1994-95 season, as the campaign was significantly shortened by a player strike. In the playoffs the Sharks defeated the Calgary Flames 4 games to 3 in the first round. Detroit then defeated the Sharks in the second round, 4 games to 0. In the 1995-96 season the Sharks posted the NHL’s second-worst mark, finishing with a 20-55-7 record.

In Demand Tickets is an independent ticket broker engaged in the business of buying and selling first rate tickets at market prices. We are not Ticketmaster, nor are we affiliated with any artist, venue, team, or box office.

In Demand Tickets does not sell tickets at face value. Our ticket prices are often significantly higher than face value and reflect our cost of obtaining quality seating. Tickets are sold at market prices which vary significantly depending on the seat location and demand for the event. All prices are in US dollars.

Since tickets are a one-of-a-kind item and not replaceable, there are NO REFUNDS, EXCHANGES or CANCELLATIONS. If an event is postponed, tickets will be honored for the rescheduled date. New tickets will not need to be issued. If an event is cancelled without a rescheduled date, you will receive a full refund for the amount that you paid for the tickets (minus the original shipping charge) - provided the tickets are returned to our office within 30 days of the original event date. In Demand Tickets will not issue exchanges or refunds after a purchase has been made - or for lost, stolen, damaged or destroyed tickets. When you receive your tickets, please keep them in a safe place. Please note that direct sunlight or heat can sometimes damage tickets.

If this is the case, we will ship the tickets out to you the same day that we receive them.

The shipping address must be the same as your billing address at which you receive your credit card statement. If your San Jose Sharks tickets need to be sent to an address other than the billing address we will need to obtain a fax written authorization from you. If you would like to do this, you should contact one of our representatives. This is for your own protection, as we are doing everything we can to combat online credit card fraud.

While price shopping our competitors online, please keep in mind that it has become common practice for many online brokers to tack on a substantial "service charge" on top of their posted ticket prices. Many times this service charge will not show up until you are at their final checkout page. They don't want you to notice it! We feel this practice is very unethical. Therefore, the price per ticket you see on our web site is the final price you pay. Our only additional charge is for FedEx shipping. No additional service charges. No convenience fees.
